看起來wireless 也會來個大躍進來到了 ㄕGigabit/sec.
只是不知道什麼時候可以用到便宜的量產品:D

IEEE 802.11ac is a wireless computer networking standard of 802.11 currently under development which will provide high throughput Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) below 6 GHz (what is commonly known as the 5 GHz band).[1]

Theoretically, this specification will enable multi-station WLAN throughput of at least 1 Gigabit per second and a maximum single link throughput of at least 500 megabit per second (500 Mbit/s). This is accomplished by extending the air interface concepts embraced by 802.11n: wider RF bandwidth (up to 160 MHz), more MIMO spatial streams (up to 8), multi-user MIMO, and high-density modulation (up to 256 QAM).

802.11e finalized

The IEEE (define) 802.11 Working Group put the finishing touches on the specification called 802.11e last month. The standard will enhance the Media Access Control (MAC) layer of 802.11 chips to handle quality of service (QoS) — in other words, it prioritizes traffic such as video, audio and voice on Wi-Fi networks, delivering better performance for VoIP and multimedia applications.

Covad Buys Into Wireless Broadband

Jack現在待的公司, 想不到他們也會買Wireless broadband 的公司, 還是以Pre-WiMax為backbone, 其實,當backbone應該就無所謂了, 其實假如ADSL, leased line, FTTH, FTTB, 再加上WiMax的應用, 網路費用應該可以節省很多才是, 也可以立即的增加網路的普及率.
